Software and Equipment

Here at San Jac, we understand our students may need some software or equipment to get them through the semester, such as a computer, webcam or internet device. Let us get you the set up you need to be successful.

Get A Loaner Laptop

Don’t have a computer? The College can loan you a laptop for the duration of your attendance. These laptops are preloaded with the software you need and delivered directly to your home.

Employees may request a loaner laptop here.

  1. Complete A Student Technology Request Form

    Click this button to request help if you are a registered student and you need a laptop or other technology for your courses.

  2. Access Your Student Email & Respond To Our Confirmation Email

    All communication for the loaner program will be sent to your student email. Please note that it is important to respond or we'll have to cancel your request.

    You will receive an email if you are identified as a student needing a computer. The email will be sent as follows:

    • From: Carolina.Aguilar@sjcd.edu

    • Subject: San Jacinto College - Student Loaner Laptop

    The email includes confirmation of your submitted Student Technology Request Form. You will also be asked to confirm your delivery address and contact phone number. You must respond to this email before we can proceed with assigning a loaner laptop.

    You will receive a one-time automated reminder phone call if you do not respond within 48 hours of receiving the email.

    Unfortunately, we'll have to cancel your request if you do not respond after this one-time reminder. Keep an eye out on your email!

  3. Sign The Contract

    You will receive a digital contract by email when we receive your completed confirmation form. This is a digital agreement that can be reviewed and signed on a mobile device.

    Please read this contract before you sign. The contract includes your:

    • G# number

    • Name

    • Laptop identification and any peripherals

    • Return date

    • Terms and conditions

    You must sign this contract within two (2) days of receipt or your order will be canceled.

  4. Receive Your Laptop

    You will receive a scheduling email to select a date and time for delivery to the address you provided on the request form. 

    • You will receive one (1) follow-up email if you do not respond to the scheduling email

    You must be present and able to show a photo ID to the courier to accept the laptop.

    • We will not leave the laptop on the front porch or in a mailbox

    • We will make two (2) attempts to deliver your laptop

    Please note that your laptop order and contract will be canceled if:

    • You do not respond to our follow-up email

    • You are not present to receive your laptop after the second attempt to deliver your laptop

  5. Activate Your Laptop

    After you receive your laptop, log in and begin to activate the installed software.

Software Installed on Your Loaner Laptop

We have already installed the software you need to complete your coursework on your loaner laptop.

You will also find short-cut links added to your desktop for Google Chrome, Office 365 Online, Blackboard, and Respondus Lockdown Browser (for remote testing).

Loaner Laptop Is Damaged Or Has Stopped Working

If your loaner laptop has been damaged or stopped working please contact Tech Support at 281-998-6137 or techsupport@sjcd.edu.

A ticket will be created & you will be contacted with further instructions.

Get More Equipment

Need more than a loaner laptop? Don't worry! We also provide loaner MiFi and loaner webcams. Check out a Knowledge Base Article or submit a Student Technology Request to get what you need!

Loaner MiFi

We have cellular Internet devices available for loan to you for the duration of your attendance. You can use these devices at home & we fund the cost for the duration of your attendance.

Loaner Webcam

If your computer does not have a webcam, the College can loan you a webcam for the duration of your attendance.

Virtual Desktop

Need specific software but dont have the space on your computer? You can get one of our virtual desktops to get the job done.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Subscriptions for Adobe are provided by the College for faculty and staff, and students required to use its applications for their coursework. Let's get you started with getting this software on your computer.

You'll need to visit the Adobe Creative Cloud sign in to access your account, then you'll need to following these steps:

  • Enter your college email address.
  • Choose company or school account. You will be redirected to the College’s sign in page.
  • Enter your college password.
  • You're logged in!

Once logged in, you will be taken to your online creative cloud account where you can download and install the Adobe apps made available to you with your College’s subscription. Here, you can choose from three options:

  • Desktop: 
    • PC Windows and Apple Mac OS computers.
  • Mobile:
    • Apple iOS and Android including Chromebooks.
  • Web:
    • Online versions of Adobe applications. This option is available only for a limited number of Adobe applications and is a good option if you have problems downloading on your device.

Choose what works best for you and follow Adobe's online instructions to install the apps available.

Are the Caps Lock and Num Lock keys off? To avoid typing an incorrect Username or Password, make sure that the Caps Lock and Num Lock keys are off. Then retype your Username and Password.

Adobe requires the College to individually license the use of their products. You may have a license issue. Don’t worry – we can give you a license.
