Continuing Ed

Electrical Technology, AAS

Technical Degree
The Associate of Applied Science degree prepares you for an entry-level career. This program provides basic training and on-the-job experience for positions in the fields of construction, maintenance, design, marketing, residential, industrial, commercial, and other electrical-related industries.
Length 2 Years
If you're studying full-time, you can complete the 60 credits for this program in five terms, including a summer term.

Certificate
The Certificate of Technology prepares you for the degree program, an entry-level career, or advancement in your current career. This program provides basic training and on-the-job experience for positions in the fields of construction, maintenance, design, marketing, residential, industrial, commercial, and other electrical-related industries.

The program has both daytime and evening classes. It helps students get on-the-job experience and prepares them for journeyman and master electrician tests.

As an electrical technology student at San Jac’s Central Campus, you’ll have access to hands-on training experiences in the modern new LyondellBasell Center for Petrochemical, Energy, & Technology. 

Apprenticeship Requirements for Exams

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) says an apprentice needs 8,000 hours of work experience to take the journeyman test. A master electrician needs 12,000 hours of proven experience.
